Foreign press find we are tolerant of lifestyles, activities and animals

These could be the gayest games ever

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - International media now have a chance to judge our city from the ground. We're finding out what those stereotypical first impressions are.

Bears on the luge course? Raccoons in our streets? It's all good! Turns out we enjoy having wildlife around.

Another thing foreign press think we like?  Pot. No, it's not legal, but news crews have been noticing it's not exactly shunned in this city despite the VPD's active war on drugs and gangs. Polish media went as far as saying there is almost universal consent of the use of those drugs.

This is also shaping up to be the Gayest Games ever.   These are the first Olympics with not just one, but two Pride houses - one in on Davie Street, the other in Whistler. Organizers say it's not about the number of gay athletes but the acceptance they should feel in this city.

We're just glad those foreign media have stopped talking about the lack of snow.

As your official radio station of the 2010 Winter Games, News1130 will carry the Opening Ceremony live at 6:00pm tomorrow and we'll have Kim Seale in Airborne Traffic before and after the event.
