LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) - Looking for ways to take advantage of the beautiful summer weather? News1130 has lots of ideas for the whole family to have some fun this weekend.

Pro basketball might be gone from Vancouver but NBA Jam Session is back this weekend. Test your skills on the court against NBA legend Robert Horry and watch a performance by the Harlem Globetrotters. It's Saturday until 5 p.m. at Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza.

Ever wanted to pedal up a mountain? Now you can in Saturday's Cypress Challenge to raise money for pancreatic cancer. It's a 5 or 13 kilometre ride straight up the hill that would make Tour de France riders a bit weak.

Up the Sunshine Coast, the Synchronicity Festival is on all weekend in Gibsons. The carnival-like event in the lush Shirley Macey Park features an outdoor circus, live music and local food and wine.

The Vancouver Queer Film Festival wraps up this weekend. The largest queer arts event in Western Canada showcases films you might not otherwise get a chance to see at a number of theatres around the city.

Unlock your inner Indiana Jones at the Fraser River Discovery Centre on Saturday.  Families get to work a mock archaeology site in search of hidden treasure, using artifacts and clues to discover the location.

Get a close up look at some eagles, hawks and owls at the Richmond Raptor Festival on Sunday. The birds will perform spectacular aerial displays at Terra Nova Rural Park from 11 to 4. If you're brave enough, you can get a closer look at these hunters on their perches

The 7th Annual Downtown PoCo Car Show will close many of Port Coquitlam's central streets for hundreds of collector cars on Sunday. There's also an Elvis tribute, a mountain bike performance, and a magic show to entertain the expected 40,000 spectators.

And music will fill the air in North Vancouver Saturday for another set of free concerts at Shipbuilders Square. An exciting lineup of high-energy pop and cultural performers goes all day til 8.
