Newton SPCA closed due to skin rash outbreak

Rash could be caused by mite

Jesse Johnston Sep 08, 2011 20:16:58 PM
SURREY (NEWS130) - Six workers at the SPCA branch in Newton have come down with some kind of skin rash.

Bob Bush with the branch says they're closed until further notice. "The rash has not been diagnosed for sure yet. Just as a precaution, we have closed the facility," he notes.

But he assures everyone that it's not serious. "It's a minor skin rash. Public health authorities suspect it might be sarcoptic mange, a microscopic mite," he explains.

People looking to adopt an animal are being asked to go to another branch until they reopen.
