VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A committee will likely be formed next year to deal with any concerns before construction begins on the
Evergreen Line. The group will consist of neighbours, businesses and city staff.
It's being put together because they don't want to see a repeat of what happened to businesses along the Cambie Corridor while the
Canada Line was being built a couple of years ago. The committee will hear out any concerns and try to come up with a solution.
Port Moody City Councillor Gerry Nuttall says Spring Street will see quite a bit of disruption. "We can expect that there's going to be inconveniences, there's going to be noise complaints. My understanding there is some open trenching where the tunnel comes out on the east side of the Barnet [Highway]."
He thinks the committee will likely be set up next year.
Nuttall spoke with businesses around Spring Street and says there are some concerns about the construction but overall they're happy it's finally being built. The $1.4 billion-project should be completed by 2016.
