VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - One of the biggest events on the local culinary calendar starts next week.
Dine Out Vancouver runs from Jan. 20 to Feb. 5 and has evolved beyond a restaurant promotion and into a full-blown food festival.
"You can get tickets to things such as Swallow Tail Supper Tours and Cocktails," says Cassandra Anderton from
Good Life Vancouver. "So you're actually learning a bit about cocktails and that's got a few different dates: January 21, 28 and February 4."
Edible Canada is also hosting culinary tours through Chinatown.
During the early days of Dine Out, it seemed some of the restaurants didn't take it very seriously.
"It used to be, I remember, going to a restaurant and they said, well, it's Dine Out, what do you expect?" says Anderton. "And now, everybody's rising to the occasion because this is their chance to impress their guest."
Special set menus go for $18, $28 or $38 including a choice of starter, main and dessert and the list of participating restaurants is the longest it has ever been.
But act fast, because reservations will fill up before you know it!
