ICBC braces for spike in claims thanks to icy roads

Make sure to exchange info with witnesses

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Slippery roads across the lower mainland have ICBC bracing for a spike in crashes.

The corporation's Adam Grossman reminds people to not just exchange information with the other driver involved in an accident, but also to gather details from potential witnesses. Then you have to look at filing the claim.

"People can call in 24/7 to file their claim with us," he says. "They can also do that online... They don't have to do it right away, but the sooner you do file the claim with us, it's helpful. The information is, you know, more fresh in your mind."

ICBC's claims line is 604-520-8222, and online reports can be filed here.

Grossman adds cutting your speed, and leaving extra room between yourself and the car ahead can help avoid a costly crash in bad weather.
