Two men targeted in Whistler bomb blast: RCMP

Investigators looking at surveillance video

WHISTLER (NEWS1130) - Police are trying to find the bomber who blew up a motorhome south of Whistler Monday night.

Two camping snowmobilers escaped serious injury in the blast.

Police aren't saying whether this is some sort of attempted gang hit but think someone is targeting the two men. One is from Vancouver Island, the other is from the Lower Mainland.

Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair says it happened around midnight in the Callaghan Valley.

"Initially we thought the explosion was related to the propane tank but that wasn't the case," he says. "It appears an explosive device was placed on the vehicle."

Outside of a slight hand injury, neither man was hurt.

Both are known to police.

Investigators say they will be looking for any video surveillance showing the bomber on his drive up the Callaghan Valley.
