VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - These aren't your regular mugs of hot chocolate, not with the likes of
Thomas Haas and other top chocolatiers stirring things up.
News1130 is taking your taste buds on a tour of the
Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival.
If you like cup of Ecuadorian cocoa infused with rose, blended with black sesame or topped with smoked sugar marshmallows, then this event is for you!
Fifteen cafes and restaurants are taking part, creating more than
50 flavours to choose from.
"It's orgasmic!" says Marc Lieberman, owner of
Mink, a chocolate cafe in downtown Vancouver.
"We are, this year, offering two drinks. One is the Sheba, which mimics our Sheba chocolate bar -- pistachio flavoured. The other is Mermaid's Choice, which is hands-down our most popular chocolate bar -- a rosemary infused caramel with fleur de sel."
There are dozens of dark and milk chocolate flavours; some are white chocolate and there are even some dairy-free sipping chocolates on tap.
The festival is on until Valentines Day with proceeds benefitting the
Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. Check out their
calendar of flavours.
