COQUIHALLA (NEWS1130) - Some people just don't know what to do with their dangerous goods.
Mark, a trucker, tells News1130 that while he was parked at a pull-out on the Coquihalla on Saturday, the behaviour of a pickup driver caught his eye. "The manner in which he left caught my attention. I pulled up a little closer to see what had been deposited on the side of the road. And it was eight pails of unmarked chemicals with a transportation placard reading 'danger' placed on top," Mark explains.
At this time, no one knows what's in those containers.
Mark says the presence of those buckets at the southbound truck pull-out near Caroline Mine Roads is very disconcerting.
"It's a public space. It's a very pristine environment with a river right behind there. Anybody that is unsuspecting, showing up in the middle of the night with their family for potty break for one of the kids, could stumble upon them. Someone could light a cigarette and be in danger if they don't see those containers. We don't know what's in them."
Police say a highways maintenance company has agreed to pick the buckets up.
