PITT MEADOWS (NEWS1130) - A man from Maple Ridge has been arrested and charged with killing the man found in a ditch near a Pitt Meadows cranberry farm last week.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says it appears the victim, 26-year-old Brandon Howson of Maple Ridge, was attacked and killed with an edged weapon.

A Maple Ridge resident, 33-year-old Adam Deboo, is charged with second-degree murder. He was picked up on Saturday on Highway 1, near the community of Spences Bridge.

"This was not a black and white case," says Sgt. Jennifer Pound with IHIT. "This was an investigation where long hours and dedication by investigators led them to a suspect."

Howson's body was found last Tuesday. Investigators say he was targeted and was known to police.

Deboo appeared in court in Port Coquitlam Monday morning.
