VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A man from Eastern Canada who came to Vancouver for a jewelry trade show is missing about $500,000 worth of jewelry.
He parked at a restaurant on West Broadway near Oak on Feb. 13 and when he came back to the car he saw that five Samsonite-style suitcases containing sterling silver were missing.
He left a laptop bag in plain view that was also stolen.
The jewelry is engraved with the wholesaler’s marking, "SSK."
Witnesses say an East Indian man in his late 20s, about five feet six inches tall and 180 pounds, was seen breaking in to the car. He was wearing a grey zip-up hoodie, a black ball cap and black gloves. Two other men nearby, described as white and Aboriginal or possibly Asian, may have been accomplices.
If any person or business has any suspicious dealings involving sterling silver jewellery, they are asked to call investigators at (604) 717-9049 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police are reminding the public not to leave any property in plain view, "because if you leave it, thieves won’t."
