Warmest winter ever

Temperatures across the country were higher than past years

Russ Lacate Mar 10, 2010 07:32:44 AM

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - It's official! This has been the warmest winter on record right across this country. It's been an average four degrees warmer, and 22 per cent drier.

Our own Meteorologist, Russ Lacate, has some insight into the unusual warmth that his colleagues are calling 'beyond shocking'. "That's because we didn't forecast it too accurately. El Nino shoulders most of the blame for the record setting mild winter here on the West Coast. It was the warmest January of all time, the average daily high was 10 degrees and of course we continued that trend into the so-called dead of winter.  It rained on 14 of the first 15 days of February and the average high was 11 degrees."
