VPD release more information on homeless man found dead on Sunday

Alex Lyons Mar 10, 2010 16:38:35 PM
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police have released more information about the homeless man who died after being found early Sunday morning in an alley behind Richards Street between Smithe and Nelson.  Thomas Sawyer, 55, died of blunt force trauma.

Investigators aren't willing to call it a homicide yet--they only say it's suspicious.  An autopsy has been done, but the results haven't been made public.  Police investigators haven't been able to find any family.

Sawyer may be known in the downtown and Yaletown areas for handing out flowers to people.  A bouquet was found next to him on the pavement.
