Preventing your phone from dying at a bad time

Mobile devices don't last as long as simple cell phones because they do more

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - It's one of the only things iPhones and Blackberries can't do... last more than a day or two without needing a re-charge. We're looking at some tips to keep you from killing the battery on your smart phone.

It's easy to drain that battery, especially with the multi-tasking capable by mobile devices. So turn down the LCD brightness, listen to music at a lower volume and turn off the wifi or bluetooth if you're not using it.

Check your email manually rather than having it constantly updating or at least increase the interval at which it checks for new mail.

When you don't need it, turn it off or set it to airplane mode - even an iPhone can last up to a week at that setting.

Since those applications can drain the device, why not add one that helps you? Get a battery monitoring app that will let you know exactly how much time you have left.
