Two VPD officers injured during arrest on Commercial Drive

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A Vancouver man has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, after roughing up a couple of VPD  officers near the Commercial Drive SkyTrain station Wednesday afternoon.

The officers were trying to make an arrest after reports of a man shoving and punching people along Commercial Drive.  VPD say the suspect was able to punch both officers in the face and head before police regained control of the situation.  The two officers were treated for head injuries.

Charges have been laid against Aija Richardson, 27, who was also wanted on a Canada-Wide warrant for being unlawfully at large at the time of his arrest.
