VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) -
It was another night of partying ahead of Friday's Paralympic Opening Ceremony as the Vancouver Paralympic Community Cauldron was lit Thursday evening in front of hundreds of cheering fans. The flag waving supporters braved the cold and rainy weather to cheer on the next phase of the 2010 Games.
Robson Square was standing room only with many there to see their hero Roberto Luongo do the honors. However, they know it's all about the paralympians.
Luongo says it was an honor for him to be selected to light the cauldron. "It’s unbelievable, it was very emotional coming down that ramp for some reason. A lot of emotions went by that I witnessed playing in the Olympic Games."
The torch has made the ten day trek all the way from Ottawa. The opening ceremony won't be broadcast until Saturday
