Streetcar technology could come to Broadway corridor

Mayor says Evergreen Line needs to be completed first

John Ackermann Mar 22, 2010 07:10:52 AM

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Olympic streetcar is being hailed as a big success, having moved more than half a million riders over the past two months.

The line between the Athletes Village and Granville Island made its final voyage yesterday but a version of it could one day move passengers to UBC and back.  Councillor Andrea Reimer tells the 24 Hours streetcar technology could be the affordable solution to transportation down the Broadway Corridor.

Mayor Gregor Robertson says it wouldn't happen tomorrow, more likely once construction of the Evergreen Line out to the Tri-Cities is complete, sometime after 2014.
