Bombardier streetcars head back to Europe

Renee Bernard Mar 30, 2010 21:32:40 PM
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The popular Bombardier-made Olympic streetcar trains have made their final exit from Canada.

On Tuesday morning, the second, and last, of the cars, was put on a huge flat-bed truck, and was taken across the border to Tacoma, Washington where the two will be shipped back to Brussels, Belgium.

It will take about a month for the trains to reach Brussels.

The shipping container will travel through the Panama Canal, covering a distance of 9090 nautical miles before arriving at a port in Germany.

The streetcar, which ran free trips between Olympic Village and Granville Island for two months, carried over half a million passengers.
