Soon anyone may light the cauldron, at a price

Fee would be upwards of $10,000

John Ackermann Mar 31, 2010 08:09:03 AM

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Olympic Cauldron will soon be available for weddings and Bar Mitzvahs.

The B.C. Pavilion Corporation is mulling over a plan to let corporations light the flame for a fee. Reliving that 2010 magic won't come cheap though.

Warren Buckley with PAVCo tells the Province newspaper it would cost at least $10,000 bucks to fire up the cauldron, not including the price of gas.

The flame will also be lit during special occassions, beginning with this year's Canada Day celebrations.
