Companies hitting Twitter and Facebook

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Social media is revolutionizing the way companies are interacting with consumers -- that's according to expert Eric Buchegger.

He says many businesses have reported an increase in new clientele after developing accounts on sites like Twitter and Facebook.  "Certainly it can deepen relationships with a brand.  Locally, lululemon is very successful at social media.  Big companies like that have found a way to engage with consumers on a one-to-one level."

Buchegger explains other big companies like Starbucks and Ford have all hit Twitter and Facebook for mass communication and mass promotion.  He adds if companies, big or small, want to make a name for themselves within the cyber community they need allocate the resources to maintain the company accounts.

A warning though -- Buchegger adds companies need to be wary of what employees post on-line because once it's out there -- there's no taking it back.
