A Halifax animal rescue society is asking the public to help a battered puppy get the help she needs to continue recovering from a vicious attack.
The Litters n' Critters Rescue Society of Halifax has been caring for Mindy, a mixed-breed puppy, since she was abused in a Northern Labrador community.
Someone shot the two-month-old dog in the head with a B.B. gun and attacked her with an axe.
A social worker and nurse rescued Mindy and she was flown to Halifax for surgery a month ago.
The rescue society tells CBC she's now recovering nicely.
An indoor yard sale will be held at the Bay Road Fire Hall, 4408 St. Margaret's Bay Road, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise money for Mindy's vet bills.
The rescue society is also accepting donations.
Mindy will have to recuperate for a few more months before being adopted out.
