VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A public forum on the future of the Vancouver Art Gallery happens tonight. But as News1130 has learned, there doesn't seem to be a lot of public support for moving the facility.
The Vancouver Art Gallery needs more space and has its eye on the old bus depot at Cambie and Georgia. The City asked people to show their support by contacting council but today's Globe and Mail reports, they've counted only seven emails so far.
The theory we found while speaking with people outside the gallery is they like it where it is. "Ever since I was a little kid, probably the first times I came to Vancouver, the art gallery was sort of a meeting place. Even after the Olympics with more and more people coming here and everyone doing the zip line and stuff like that. Why would we move the art gallery?"
So far not even flashy full page newspaper ads from the gallery have compelled people to write in. If you are passionate one way or the other, you can express yourself at a Robson Square public forum at seven tonight. For more information, take a look here.
