VSB submits revised budget to Victoria

The two sides have been battling over a multi-million dollar shortfall

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Vancouver School Board has revised it's budget - as it's been forced to do by the Ministry of Education.

Last night board chair Patti Bacchus fired back at Education Minister Margaret MacDiarmid, saying they don't want to be forced to pass the budget, but they have little choice.

The two sides have been battling over a multi-million dollar shortfall. Victoria had the province's comptroller general do a report and make recommendations, but the school board has refused to buy into them.

The VSB says it still hopes to save band programs in dozens of schools, but is considering closing as many as nine elementary schools, starting next year.
