VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Vancouver Whitecaps fell 2-1 to the Portland Timbers for their first loss at Swangard Stadium this season.
It is also the Whitecaps first loss in 10 games. Vancouver got off to a good start in the 2nd half as Nizar Khalfan scored in the 51st minute to put the home team up 1-0. Then a series of mistakes gave Portland a chance to come back and eventually score 2 goals to beat Vancouver.
Bad news for the Whitecaps defender Greg Janicki will miss the next game as he was shown a red card for a rough challenge.
The Caps don't get too much rest as they are back hosting Minnesota on Sunday evening at 7.
