RCMP investigates racist graffiti in Richmond

Two suspects captured on surveillance video

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - A substantial amount of disturbing, racist graffiti has been tagged on a Richmond parkade and has Mounties already muttering the phrase 'hate crime.'

The tags target people of Chinese, Indian, and African descent.

Homophobic words and swastikas are also there, all of it covering more than two storeys worth of walls and ceilings, in a parkade stairwell at Empire Centre.

Richmond RCMP Corporal Sherrdean Turley says if two suspects seen on surveillance video are caught, the case could be pursued as a hate crime. "We are certain that the males on this surveillance video are Caucasian. However we are unable at this time to provide any further description. The video will be reviewed again."

Until then, Mounties don't have much to work with.

The graffiti appeared last week, but still hasn't been removed.
