WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - West Vancouver police had to deal with a disturbing discovery made at a local park earlier this week. A city employee found something that looked like a bomb around Argyle Avenue near Weston Park, popular with local residents.
Corporal Jag Johal says investigators confirmed it was a bomb at the scene. They then called the RCMP bomb squad that took the device to an undisclosed location and detonated it.
Johal says they are now studying how the bomb was made. "It has to be looked at forensically and we need to see where the items to make the bomb came from." Johal says the bomb was wrapped in tape, and had screws and a fuse sticking out of it.
Police have not made any arrests yet, but an investigation has been launched.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the West Vancouver Police or Crime Stoppers.
