Poll: Canadians spending a lot of time working, commuting

About 10 hours daily

Andrea Macpherson Aug 17, 2010 11:21:06 AM

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - We know your commute to work can be a little trying, but apparently it's a little better in B.C. compared to the rest of the country.  An Everest College poll out of Ontario shows more than one third of Canadians spend 10 hours or more working and commuting every day.

Carol Stafford with the school says in B.C. that number dips just slightly to 28 per cent.  Folks in Alberta are probably the largest group to pull in the longest hours.  Roughly 44 per cent of Canadians there are spending more than 10 hours a day working and commuting.  Further east, people in Ontario are sitting at 35 per cent.

She adds another interesting finding is people who are married are more likely to spend more time at work and on the road.
