CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) - An amber alert issued by the RCMP Sunday afternoon after a 12-year-old boy was taken from his home in Chilliwack has been cancelled.

Mounties say the boy and his father have been located in Langley after a massive search that ensued after the alert was issued.  RCMP say they received a 911 call, informing them the boy and his father were seen leaving Guildford Mall in Surrey in a cab.

Police caught up with the cab at a gas station at 88th Avenue and 202nd Street.  The father, whom the RCMP identify as 34-year-old Kenneth Daniel Morey, was taken into custody, but the boy is safe and unharmed.

The 12-year old was apparently taken from his house on 2nd Avenue near Williams Street by his father just before 1 p.m. on Sunday. The RCMP say the boy was at home with his grandparents when three men forced their way inside and took him. The police say they then launched a search for the boy's father, grandfather and a male relative.

Corporal Lea-Anne Dunlop with Chilliwack RCMP says originally they were looking for a white 1990 Honda Accord, but later shifted their focus to a grey 2001 Accord.

It's still not clear if any other people were taken into custody.
