VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - News 1130's Mike Lloyd is on the offbeat, talking to a man following his smokey-salty-sweet dream.
Bacon touches a lot of different areas of Justin Esch's life. He says "We just want to boldly take bacon where it's never gone before!"
He and his business partner Dave had a dream, everything should taste like bacon. J&D Foods was born in Seattle in 2007 with a single mission. "To strive to make advancements in bacon-o-vation and to really bring bacon-flavoured everything to the world."
Justin wasn't satisfied with their bacon-flavoured products saying "What they were really missing was some form of spreadable bacon." Hence the birth of Baconnaise! He says "I'm not sure if we settled on the product or the name first." The research and development involved frying, dipping and tasting until Dave found bacon-mayo nirvana and gained 25 pounds in the process. Since then, there's been bacon popcorn, bacon ranch dressing, even bacon-flavoured lip balm and envelopes.
In their latest bacon-related adventure, Justin and Dave told News1130 exclusively they have teamed up with Jones Soda. Justin says "Well, it hasn't been announced yet, we've made bacon-flavoured soda pop."
On November 1st, the revolutionary soda will go out everywhere in the world.
