Still no buyers for two idle Albion Ferries

From Craigslist to a broker in Langley

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) - Not everyone needs a car ferry.  It's been over a year since the Albion Ferries last took commuters across the Fraser River, and they're still sitting idle, up for sale.

Ken Hardie with TransLink says they had a few nibbles just as the ferries were pulled in favour of the new Golden Ears Bridge, but then world financial markets took a tumble.

Hardie admits, ever since it's been a buyer's market.

He insists the ferries are still in great working order.  The boats are started up every now again as they wait patiently to meet prospective buyers.

The vessels were first posted on Craigslist, and eventually turned over to a broker in Langley.  TransLink is holding out for about $1 million per ferry.
