MONTREAL - Quebec is pushing Ottawa for an agreement on petroleum exploration and exploitation in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence.
The deal would smooth the way for the drilling of at least one prospect.
Nova Scotia-based company Corridor Resources holds exploration licenses for the giant 'Old Harry' prospect in the gulf.
It straddles the Quebec and Newfoundland border and is estimated to be among the largest undrilled prospects in eastern Canada.
A motion was jointly presented Tuesday in the Quebec national assembly by Natural Resource Minister Nathalie Normandeau and the Parti Quebecois.
Discussions between Ottawa and the province have dragging on for more than a decade.
