Longtime News1130 reporter and popular on-air personality Bruce Williams has passed away.
Well-known for the last decade as a traffic reporter on News1130, Williams was a long-standing and beloved member of the Rogers Media family for more than 18 years.
"We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Bruce's family at this difficult time, and our hearts and thoughts are with them," said Treena Wood, Program Director here at News1130.
"Bruce will be remembered for his humility and as the first to lend a hand. He was the calm voice of reason for the afternoon commute, and will be deeply missed by all the entire Rogers Radio family and his loyal listeners," said Geoff Poulton, Vice President and General Manager, Vancouver, Rogers Radio.
Williams was born and raised in Vancouver and began his radio career in 1979. He worked at CKLG, CFMI and JR-FM. In 1996, Williams was working at CKWX when it switched formats from country to all-news, and remained as one of News1130's traffic reporters.
We invite anyone who would like to express their condolences or share a memory about Bruce to leave a comment below. They will be passed on to Bruce's family.
