Underwhelming response to new iPhone

Apple still expecting 4S to be a big seller

John Ackermann Oct 05, 2011 09:45:00 AM
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The newest iPhone is more of a ho-hum than a gee-whiz.

People usually consider Apple's products game-changers, but initial impressions of the 4S have been a bit on the underwhelming side.

For months, we've been expecting the arrival of the iPhone 5; instead we were given a release date for the 4S, which hits stores October 14th. Still, the latest iPhone is nothing to sneeze it. It has the same A5 chip found in the iPad 2, an upgraded eight-megapixel camera, and longer battery life.

Another criticism is word the much ballyhooed Siri voice recogition software bundled with the new phone may not be available in Canada -- at least not right away.
