GOOGLE, KANSAS (NEWS1130) - The capital of Kansas is eager to host Google's new high-speed broadband network. So eager, the city is changing its name.
For the month of March, Topeka shall be known as Google, Kansas - the capital city of fibre optics.
The City hopes the change will not just be fun but actually boost its chances of taking part in the trial which would provide up to 500,000 people with an ultra high speed connection, with speeds of up to 1 gigabit a second - hundreds of times faster than what many currently have.
Hundreds of cities and counties across the states are vying for part of the experimental network. Not to be outdone, Duluth, Minnesota is pledging to name all first borns Google or for girls Googlette.
