ALMATY, Kazakhstan - The government of Kazakhstan say the death toll from a flood that flattened a village has risen to 37.
The government said in a statement Tuesday that the casualties included nine men, 17 women and 11 children.
Heavy rain Thursday night caused a fracture in the dam at a privately owned reservoir in the Almaty region neighbouring China. The resulting torrent virtually wiped out the village of Kyzyl-Agash, killing dozens and leaving thousands homeless.
