Sedins reunited on Swedish infused all-star squad

GATINEAU,QC (NEWS1130) - Daniel and Henrik Sedin, along with Alex Edler of the Canucks will play on Team Alfredsson at the NHL all-star game on Sunday. All six Swedish players are playing on the Ottawa captain's squad.

Last year the Canuck's twins played on separate teams, which seemed to be the big story of the 2011 contest. That, and the Leafs Phil Kessel being drafted last overall using the fantasy draft format.

Boston's Zdeno Chara had the first pick and took Pavel Datsyuk of the Red Wings. Alfredsson grabbed fellow countryman and teammate Erik Karlsson.

Despite being in the top 10 of NHL scoring, the Sedins were not selected in the early rounds. Daniel was chosen with the second pick of ninth round at 18th overall. Brother Henrik went four rounds later. Edler was nabbed 30th overall.

Canucks rookie centre Cody Hodgson is the one Canucks player on Team Chara, but the dozen first year players will only compete in the NHL all-star skills competition

The other Swede on Team Alfredsson is NY Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

San Jose sniper Logan Couture was the last player taken, but won a car.
