VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Hours before they were to head to arbitration, the Vancouver Canucks and Mason Raymond have reached a deal. The team avoided arbitration by signing the winger to a new two-year, $5.1 million contract, where he will earn $2.5 million this season and $2.6 million next year.
The 24-year-old put up career highs in goals (25), assists (28) and points (53) and earned the bump in pay from the $760,000 he made last season.
He was originally selected in the second round, 51st overall by the Canucks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Jannik Hansen won his arbitration case last week, earning himself an $825,000 deal -- up from the $500,000 he made this past season.
