Poll: Patriotism is age-related

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It seems your age determines how patriotic you are. A survey that looks at attitudes on patriotism shows quite the difference between younger and older Canadians.

About 62 per cent of 18 to 24 year old say they are patriotic about Canada, while the same rings true for more 91 per cent of people between 65 and 74. Overall, just over three-quarters of respondents described themselves as patriotic.

Across the country the levels varied – people in Quebec produced significantly different results, with 42 per cent feel patriotic – and only 14 per cent describe that sense of pride as strong.  The most patriotic are those in the Atlantic provinces, only 7 per cent are not. Here in B.C. we were in the middle of the pack with 86 per cent claiming pride in this nation.
