VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Lawyers aren’t giving him much chance of winning, but that’s not stopping a Vancouver man from fighting BC’s mandatory helmet law.
Ron van der Eerden has filed a challenge under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, saying wearing a helmet discourages people from cycling. He tells the Province newspaper helmets aren’t the problem, but the laws making them mandatory are.
van der Eerden points out people don’t have to wear them in Holland and it’s the safest place in the world to cycle.
