VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Spinnaker, a Pacific white-sided dolphin has died at the Vancouver Aquarium. He passed away this morning.
Spinnaker arrived at the facility in 2001 and was thought to be in his 20’s. He was first rescued in 1991 after becoming caught in a fishing net off the coast of Japan.
The Aquarium says Spinnaker was suffering from a prolonged illness and had been under close observation for the last several months. His health appeared to be improving in recent weeks but was not able to pull through.
Those who cared for the dolphin are saddened by the news.
