BCIT opens its doors to you

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – If you’re looking at going back to school to start a new career, you may want to do your research to see what jobs are available after you graduate.

Choosing a career can be a daunting task, but today, BCIT is hoping to help you with that decision as thousands of people are expected to the institution’s open house.

While there are an abundance of programs to choose from, certain ones provide better job prospects upon completion of a degree.

“There are programs that people might not think about like in business for example. General insurance maybe not the most exciting for people but you’ve got a 100 per cent chance of getting a job if you come through that program,” explains Dave Pinton with BCIT.

“People who go into accounting, they have a 90 per cent job placement rate. Risk management is another one and of course nursing and health care are always in high demand.”

Other programs of interest include anything in architectural science, sustainable resource management and other green-related fields.

The two-day event runs today (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and tomorrow (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). There will be over 130 displays showcasing BCIT programs.
