A showcase of everything SFU has to offer

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – Simon Fraser University is holding a open house at its Burnaby campus today to show you all the things it has to offer.

SFU’s Fiona Burrows says it’ll be a day packed with over 100 interactive exhibits and displays showcasing the 145 program it offers.

“It enables us to show to the members of the public and give them the opportunity to learn first-hand about our innovative educational programs, our exciting research initiatives and far-reaching community connections.”

Some of the highlights include old movies of SFU back in the late 60’s, a mock Dragon’s Den showcasing the universities entrepreneurs, and exploring the Arthur Erikson architectural marvel. There is also something for the kids as a huge carnival will be set up, complete with free cupcakes and popcorn.

Burrows feels if you’re a Dragon’s Den fan and into business, you’ll really enjoy the Beedie Market.

“When you first enter the zone, you receive some ‘beedie dollars’ and as you learn things through the various zones, you can earn more beedie dollars, as well as you can guess answers to various aspects about the program.”

She adds there will also be Lego and hockey robots along with mind-controlled exoskeletons that you can try out.

The open house is on from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
