Heat start Texas triple header with a shutout

CEDAR PARK, TX (NEWS1130) – Defenceman Chris Breen scored eight seconds into overtime as the Abbotsford Heat blanked the Texas Stars 1-0. Danny Taylor made 19 saves to earn the shutout in goal.

The two squads did not score in the first 60 minutes of the game. The Heat out shot the Stars through three periods, 27-19.

They were a combined 0 for 13 with the man advantage. The Fraser Valley crew had eight power plays.

Breen’s second goal of the year came on Abbotsford’s second shot of the extra period.

It was Taylor’s second shutout of the season.

The Heat play in San Antonio on Saturday and Houston on Sunday to wrap up a five-game road swing.
