Heat just miss three win weekend in Texas

HOUSTON, TX (NEWS1130) – Jason Zucker scored the game-winning goal five seconds into OT on Danny Taylor as the Texas Aeros edged the Abbotsford Heat 3-2 in the AHL. Brett Olson and Joe Piskula scored the Heat’s goals.

Olson tied the game at 1-1 just over a minute after the home team took a 1-0 lead late in the first quarter.

The Aeros were up 2-1 in the third period, when defenceman Piskula scored his first of the season to even the game for the visitors.

Houston outshot the Heat 23-20.

Abbotsford won in extra time on Friday night versus Texas and needed a shootout to edge San Antonio on Saturday night.

On the five-game road trip Troy Ward’s squad had three wins, a loss and an overtime defeat.

The team is back in the Fraser Valley on Friday night to take on Hamilton.
