Two charged in Canada Day bomb plot smile, chat in court

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The pair charged in the Canada Day bomb plot at the BC Legislature sat in front of a judge at BC Supreme Court this morning.

John Nuttall and Amanda Korody weren’t acting as though they were at a terrorism trial and being charged with a serious crime; they acted jovial and tried to chat.

Nuttall entered first, with long hair and a scruffy beard; he was followed by Korody, who smiled as she caught Nuttall’s eyes.

The two were wearing their prison jumpsuits and tried to have a quick chat while sitting in the prisoners box, before being asked to stop by a courtroom guard.

Even still, the two continue to smile at each other and snuck in some giggles before the Crown asked the judge for the next court appearance to be slated for October 10th.

The defence quickly agreed for a case management judge to set a trial start date, saying “they want to get this started.”

A case management judge outlines how the proceedings will move forward, and sets a first trial date.
