Luongo and Schneider battle in New Jersey

By

NEWARK, NJ (NEWS1130) – Former teammates Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider will face one another for the second time this season as the New Jersey Devils welcome the Canucks to the Prudential Center.

Luongo and the Canucks hosted New Jersey on Oct. 8 and Vancouver grabbed a 3-2 win in overtime. Luongo made 21 saves for the win. Schneider stopped 29-of-32 shots in a losing effort.

The Devils will once again have Schneider between the pipes and will look to return the favour to the Canucks. Schneider has started back-to-back games for New Jersey, but allowed three goals on 23 shots in a 4-1 loss to Columbus in his last outing on Tuesday – three days after he had led them to their first win of the season by shutting out the New York Rangers.

The Canucks game plan is to continue to fine-tune their own game despite coming off a 5-4 shootout win over the Islanders on Tuesday. They’ll have to do so without the services of Jannik Hansen who has returned to Vancouver to have further evaluation on his upper-body injury. David Booth – who was a healthy scratch last game – will slot back into the line-up.

A win would guarantee the Canucks finish with a record better than .500 on this marathon road trip that wraps up tomorrow in St. Louis.

Today’s puck drop is at 4 p.m. and can be viewed on Sportsnet Vancouver.
