Justin Bieber charged with assault in Toronto

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Justin Bieber walked into a downtown Toronto police station, where he’s been charged with assault.

The pop star was escorted by several police officers and a body guard through a teeming crowd of journalists and screaming fans.

The charge is linked to reported assault involving a limousine driver last month in the city. A court date has been set for March 10.

Police told The Canadian Press in December that they were looking into allegations that a member of Bieber’s entourage assaulted a limo driver who was driving the Canadian pop star and several others.

A police spokesman said at the time that it was unclear whether the teen heartthrob himself was involved in the alleged attack on Dec. 29, or simply one of his companions.

Earlier today, the 19-year-old pop star pleaded not guilty in Florida to charges of driving under the influence after driving nearly twice the speed limit on a Miami Beach street.

He also pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest and driving with an expired license.
