Elvis’ rickshaw and Zoltar from Big among items in Vancouver auction

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’ve always dreamed of playing a guitar signed by BB King, gazing at original artwork signed by Michael Jackson or owning an Andy Warhol autographed serigraph, this could be your chance. A well-known local collector is attracting international attention by auctioning off some big treasures, including a famous prop from the movie Big.

Remember that fortune telling machine with the ominous glowing red eyes that granted wishes in the 1988 Tom Hanks film? Jeremoy Dodd with Able Auctions says the authentic animatronic machine, “Zoltar Speaks” is part of the collection of Vancouver’s Howard Blank to be auctioned off June 7th and 8th.

“It’s a really cool piece, it hands out fantastic pieces of advice. I’ve used about four or five in the last week myself,” says Dodd.

One of the bigger pieces in the auction is fit for a King: the King of Rock and Roll. Filmed just over the border in Seattle, It Happened At the World’s Fair included a scene with Elvis riding in a Rickshaw. That pedi-cab is among the items up for auction June 7th and 8th.

“It’s in amazing condition. We’ve got pictures of Elvis sitting in it. It’s really a beautiful piece–one of a kind of course,” says Dodd, adding he doesn’t know why Blank is selling off his eclectic collection, but expects bids from around the world.

Blank is known as much for his eclectic treasures as his work for Great Canadian Gaming and the River Rock Casino .

So what fortune-telling advice did Zoltar produce for you? “Work hard and you’ll get rich,” says Dodd.
