Convicted murderer escapes from Mission prison

MISSION (NEWS1130) – A convicted murderer has escaped from a minimum security prison.
Shawn Merrick was discovered unaccounted for during a prison count at Mission Institution on Tuesday.
He was convicted of the second-degree murder of Shelley Lynne Devoe in Surrey. Her body was found on Burke Mountain in Coquitlam in 2006.
Merrick is 43 years old, five-foot-eight, and 141 pounds. He is white, has blue eyes and brown hair.
He has a burn scar on his right forearm, a two-inch scar on his neck, tattoo of skulls on his upper left arm, a heart with the name “Jade” on his right upper back, a dragon on his right upper arm, and a skull on the left side of his chest.
