Vancouver Coastal Health and the City of Vancouver lifted the health advisory for most Vancouver beaches this weekend, after being closed for the last 10 days.
Clive Camm of Coastal Health shows testing shows the water and soil are safe.
“Lab analysis of water and beach sample show no harmful levels of oil present on the beaches where the advisory have been lifted. However we caution beachgoers to remain vigilant and to avoid contact with any small amounts of remaining oil,” he explains. “It’s possible there are still some small amounts of remaining oil and we ask people to use common sense and just steel clear of that.”
Crews will continue to test those spots and will monitor the 16 re-opened beaches to see if further clean-up is needed.
